MY BACKGROUND
I have been shooting films and videos since the age of thirteen when I first picked up my fathers VHS camera. I bought my first Bolex as a high school student and made a bunch of movies with friends. After high school I went to Boston University film school and honed my skills working with 16mm and super 16.
In addition, throughout high school and college I worked at The Comcast Network (CN8) as a production technician. I worked on studio producitons as a camera operator and video shader, shot ENGs, and went on to become a technical director for remote sports and studio productions
During college I worked on sci-fi project with Max Evry who somehow convinced a group of us to take on the challenge. Our first foray into Sci-fi effects revolved around stop motion animation. We had tremendous results. After college we decided to revisit the sci-fi concept we had developed, but this time stepped it up a notch and used 3D animation for all the effects shots. The result was Blue Lollipop.
Since then I have served as a cinematographer on two dramatic features one of which has played in several festivals. In addition I shot several music videos one which aired on MTV Jams and BET.
I have a good understanding of how to achieve great results with combined live action and digital compositing. As a director of photography this can be a great asset for you project.
